You bring the challenge, issue or opportunity.  We bring the people.

We’ve all been to workshops and conferences where great ideas are passed around.  Networking is awesome.  However, sometimes you want to apply yourself and put your skills to use.

Doing Good For Nothing is creating space for great thinking and action to come together.  Open to local non-profit organizations in need of a boost: your team identifies the most pressing needs of your organization. DGFN gathers the perfect experts and tinkerers to help out and offers you a full day of working with them.  For free!

Read some awesome testimonials from our Round 1 selection, the International Institute of Child Rights and Development (IICRD).

“I found DGFN’s process to be well-organized and well-facilitated, with clear roles like a chair, a time keeper and note takers. This helped us get a lot done in two hours.”

So who is ‘Doing Good For Nothing’ anyway?

We exist to join smart experts and capable service providers with organizations in need to offer free expertise and action to help move a great non-profit organization forward in their mission. DGFN Victoria is a gang of skilled professionals and volunteers ready for action!  Victoria is home to tons of amazing not-for-profit organizations and social enterprises.  Victoria is ALSO home to buckets of talented people, from bankers to lawyers, academics and social entrepreneurs.  Imagine what would happen if we harnessed all those skills to focus on one challenge for one day, in service to a non-profit organization doing great work in the world! Learn more about our core team.

Where does DGFN come from?

The concept originated in the UK as Good for Nothing.  We’ve copied the basic concept here in Victoria so that DGFN is about diverse groups of local people self-generating what a flourishing and healthy 21st century society might be, all for nothing, all for good.

There are a number of ways to help and we’d love to meet you! Get in touch with us to contribute.

So what would you do with a room full of talented thinkers and do-ers for a day?

DGFN applications will open in December 2015 and will be due in January 2016.  We anticipate hosting the full day of thinking and action in the early spring of 2016.
